Founder
Leocadie Toussaint, RN, BSN
Born and raised in Haiti, Leocadie has always kept her country of origin and its children close to her heart. After the devastating earthquake in 2010, Leocadia traveled twice to Haiti to assist in relief efforts. The landscape was destroyed and tens of thousands were left homeless. Leocadie was struck by the resilience of the people and her love of Haiti was deepened. Leocadie was called to continue her assistance to the people of Hiati, particularly in her hometown of Liancourt.

Many Haitian families lack educational backgrounds and therefore cannot assist children with their studies. Leocadie's own personal experience with parents that believed in and promoted the value and importance of education, but themselves were unable to provide Leocadie assistance with her schoolwork. As a result, she learned firsthand what it is to grow up struggling in school. This core and common problem weighed on Leocadie's heart and mind.
In January 2014, she fulfilled her calling by establishing the Liancourt Community Center to provide much needed after school tutoring by certified teachers, to ensure that students in the community receive assistace with their studies. Leocadie's goal is to significantly improve their chances of a promising and successful future for the children her programs serve. Liancourt Community Center is the only such after school program in Liancourt.
Leocadie has enlisted the help of many on her journey to make Liancourt Community Center a reality, Please join Leocadie in her passion to assist the children of Liancourt.

Alice Barden
Alice had been coworkers with Leocadie for years when she learned about Liancourt Community Center, Leocadie's self-financed afterschool program for the children of her hometown of Liancourt, Haiti. The program, once intended for a few children, repidly grew and it soon became obvious that she would need additional support to continue offering services to such a large (and growing) number of participants. Recognizing the importance of the community center and seeing Leocadie’s passion and commitment to helping educate the children of Haiti, Alice decided to help Leocadie in her efforts to maintain and expand the Liancourt Community Center.
